Dr. Sittenfeld attended Northern Arizona University for his undergraduate studies, followed by receiving a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. He also completed an internship at E&M Bobst Hospital, The Animal Medical Center, New York.

Dr. Sittenfeld's hobbies include ice hockey and skiing, as well as being an instrument rated pilot. His wife, Irene, and he have two Alaskan Malamutes (Kenai and Churchill) and four cats (Ima, Sabrina, Georgia, and Oscar).
